About Us: 

Misu Nelson Byrd is a mother and lover of most creatures big and small. A stay-at-home mom for 5 years and a homeschooling mom for 1, Misu continues to grow a love for teaching and playing with children and looks forward to sharing and supporting that through Roda Playspace. Misu is also a skilled familiy violence prevention and intervention worker, a former Columbia University adjunct, and a metaphisics student with a few cool alternative healing modalities up her sleeve.
Roberto Tapia & Erika Pereira are partners in life and in business.  As owners of RODA Brazilian-Latino Movements they seek to bring exciting and culturally diverse dance & movement programs to the DC & MD area. As parents themselves, they are excited to start this PLAYSPACE to get the littlest bodies moving!  Both Roberto & Erika are trained educators, Roberto an experienced Capoeira instructor and Erika a K-12 teacher in DC Public Schools.

Between us we have 3 wonderful children, a love of play & movement and a wonderful space to share with you!

Roda PLAYspace is designed with some of the best children's museums and basement playrooms in mind. 

We are not fancy but we are fun and functional! We are committed to providing a safe, stimulating and easy going environment for our community to enjoy and stake claim to. Please bring your ideas, energy and special little ones into our space. We are adding toys and equipment regularly.
